Maritza Cabezas
Economist
As economic researcher, Maritza Cabezas helps shape the company’s economic and financial market views, with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Before joining Triodos, she worked at the Dutch Central Bank and ABN AMRO. She holds master’s degrees in development economics and public finance.
Maritza focuses on emerging markets and the role of finance in reducing inequalities. She developed a model for assessing country risk in emerging markets and provides internal ratings for these markets. Maritza also coordinates the integration of gender lens investing and shares her expertise in international working groups.
Ernst Hobma
Researcher
As economic researcher, Ernst Hobma studies the transitions needed to bring the economy and financial system within planetary boundaries. He contributes to research on social tipping points and to the development of Triodos’ vision for a more sustainable financial system. Before joining Triodos, he worked at De Nederlandsche Bank.
Ernst shares his insights every two weeks in the podcast Money for Change and is affiliated with Erasmus University Rotterdam as a PhD candidate.

Matija Kajić
Researcher
As sustainability researcher, Matija Kajić focuses on the resource and energy transitions. She is committed to advancing responsible resource use in ways that enable wellbeing while respecting planetary boundaries. Before joining Triodos, Matija obtained her PhD at Utrecht University.
Drawing on experience across non-profit, for-profit and academic settings, Matija emphasises the importance of cross-sector and multidisciplinary collaboration. She believes research should inform action and prioritises advocacy that helps create the conditions for systemic change.

Advocacy Manager
As advocacy manager, Anna Koolstra combines research insights, policy recommendations and thought leadership to advance systemic change in the financial sector. Before joining Triodos Bank, she worked for the Dutch government in various roles on European affairs and housing policy.
Anna believes public participation is essential in any transition. She sees it as crucial that financial system reform is not kept behind closed doors, but instead subject to public debate. She shares her insights every two weeks in the podcast Money for Change.

As impact manager, Emma de Leeuw works to advance finance for positive change. She strengthens Triodos’ impact strategy by translating sustainability ambitions into practical actions and decision-making frameworks. Before stepping into her current role, Emma held positions in compliance and sustainability regulation implementation.
Emma supports the integration of values-based principles into everyday banking practice to enable a just and sustainable future for all.
Sven Renon
Impact manager
As impact manager, Sven Renon knows how to shape climate and nature policy that keeps us within the limits of our planet, as a financial sector and with national and European policy. He joined Triodos in 2023 after several years at Impact Institute. He also has extensive expertise in industry standards for impact measurement and reporting.
Sven advocates reducing absolute emissions and investing in real climate solutions in the short term, rather than relying primarily on net-zero targets, voluntary alliances or carbon credits.

Hans Stegeman
Chief economist
As chief economist and group director Impact & Economics, Hans Stegeman works on transforming the economic system, with finance as a key lever for change. His focus is on post-growth economics, sustainability transitions and the institutional reforms needed to align the economy with planetary boundaries.
Before joining Triodos, he worked at Rabobank, the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB), and the labour union FNV. In his PhD dissertation Transforming Economics for Sustainability (2025), he argues that sustainability must be the starting point of economic thinking. Hans writes for Vrij Nederland, newspapers such as NRC and Het Financieele Dagblad, and the podcast Money for Change.
Pjotr Tjallema
Researcher
As sustainability researcher, Pjotr Tjallema works to strengthen the connection between financial flows and real-world impact. He focuses on the food system, nature and biodiversity. Before joining Triodos in 2022, Pjotr worked at the think tank Climate & Company. He holds an MSc in Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University & Research and studies Finance at the University of Amsterdam alongside his work at Triodos.
Pjotr aims to ensure that private capital truly generates a positive impact on the biosphere.

Roos Walstock
Researcher
As sustainability researcher Roos focuses on social resilience and individual wellbeing, across sectors such as housing, healthcare, and arts and culture. She combines ethical and theoretical insights with real-world practice to explore how values-based finance can contribute to a fairer, more resilient society. She worked as a sustainability consultant before joining Triodos Bank.
Roos believes an economy is only sustainable if it works for everyone and supports communities to flourish.

Joeri de Wilde
Economist
As economic researcher, Joeri de Wilde writes columns, articles and research at the intersection of economics and sustainability. He analyses how macroeconomic developments and financial markets influence sustainability transitions and policy, particularly in the Netherlands, Europe and the United States. Prior to joining Triodos, Joeri worked as a financial researcher at Profundo.
Joeri seeks to make visible how existing power structures can limit or hinder sustainable progress—and what governments, the financial sector, businesses, investors and individuals can do to change this. He shares his insights through columns for Financial Investigator.
