Banco Solidario S.A. (BancoSol) is one of the two largest Bolivian microfinance institutions and has grown to become one of the top microfinance banks in Latin America over the past 20 years. The organisation started operations as an NGO in 1986, and became the first Bolivian commercial bank specialised in microfinance in 1992. The bank offers loan products, savings products, payment services and remittances, and micro insurance, through its national network of branches, points of sale, mobile branches and ATMs. In the coming years, BancoSol aims to grow more in rural areas, agricultural and SME lending and mobile banking.
Triodos Fair Share Fund and Triodos Microfinance Fund are shareholders in BancoSol. A senior officer from Triodos Bank represents the Triodos funds on the Board of Directors.
