Sustainable energy (Environment)
The solar plant is located in the municipality of Veurne, Belgium, and was developed by Greenfever, which is also the owner. Triodos Renewables Europe Fund provided a subordinated loan to GFS Veurne BVBA. The solar plant consists of 12,780 solar panels with a combined capacity of 2.6MWp, generating enough green energy for 700 households. The solar plant started operations in July 2009.
Energy is a necessity in modern life but the current dependence on fossil fuels to provide it has a high environmental and social impact. We believe that a fundamental transition is needed away from a carbon based economy to a renewable one. By lending and investing in this sector we try to stimulate this transition, with our main focus on financing solar, wind and hydro energy.
