Ampere Equity Fund acquires 50% of a 46 MW on shore wind farm being developed by GreenPower in Scotland.
03-08-2011 | Glasgow, 3 August 2011 - Ampere Equity Fund, managed by Triodos Investment Management, acquires 50% of the Carraig Gheal Wind Farm , which has a total capacity of 46 MW.
Carraig Gheal Wind Farm is located in the region of Argyll and Bute (Scotland), and is being developed by the Scottish developer GreenPower International. Preparation of the construction works has started and the wind farm will be commissioned late 2012. Carraig Gheal Wind Farm will consist of 20 Siemens SWT-2.3 variable speed wind generators, each with 2.3 MW capacity. The preferred contractor for the civil engineering and foundation works is Hanson Quarry Products, a subsidiary of Heidelberg Cement Group.
Ampere Equity Fund and GreenPower are currently jointly negotiating the senior debt financing for the project with two leading UK banks. Financial Close of the senior debt financing is anticipated later in August.

GreenPower is an independent developer of wind and hydro power projects, based in Scotland. The company has consented over 250MW of wind capacity. The Carraig Gheal Wind Farm was consented in 2008 through a Section 36 application to the Scottish Ministers. GreenPower has in excess of 400MW of further wind and hydro power capacity in development across the UK and is actively pursuing acquisitions and joint ventures as well as greenfield developments. The company has recently launched its GreenPower-Share initiative, which enables landowners for smaller projects to become joint owners of the project on their land.
