Triodos Investment Management will act as co-investment manager for Isis Fund, an equity fund launched by Women’s World Banking with the aim to increase access to finance for women around the world. Co-investment management will be done with WWB Asset Management. More than USD 30 million was committed in the first closing of the fund by an international group of reputed institutional investors. A second closing bringing the fund to at least USD 60 million is targeted for the end of the year.

The fund will take minority equity positions in microfinance institutions, mostly Women´s World Banking affiliates (currently, the WWB Network encompasses 39 institutions), across the globe that have a significant focus on women. Many of these institutions require capital to enable sustainable growth and expand product and service offerings to their clients. Isis Fund, as a mission-aligned investor, will provide long-term support to ensure responsible institutional transformation. The fund has a robust pipeline of investments for the first year.

Marilou van Golstein Brouwers, Managing Director Triodos Investment Management, says: `This cooperation between Women´s World Banking and Triodos Investment Management is a very exciting landmark in the joint history of Women´s World Banking and Triodos Bank. For 30 years we have worked together to promote a shared vision for the microfinance sector and to support the development of the world’s leading microfinance institutions. It is an important addition to our Emerging Markets portfolio.‘
