In the last few years there has been a lot of development within the financial sector. Technical innovations such as Blockchain and e-signing have caught the imagination of the financial industry and are promising huge potential, almost at a disruptive level. Next to these technical innovations there have also been a growth in alternative funding platforms, generally known as Crowd Funding.
Although these (technical) innovations are exciting and can potentially be very useful for Triodos Bank, before we run with it, a lot of legal questions arise: what is the legal framework? what are the boundaries we must respect (legally or maybe also ethically)? This is where you come in!
We are looking for a research intern who can help our Legal department with exploring the legal landscape concerning several “fintech” developments like Blockchain, Smart Contracting, electronic contracting, e-signing, ICO’s and/or other crypto currencies and new ways of financing like Crowd Funding platforms. Resulting a formal document which we can use within Triodos Bank to keep our activities within legal boundaries.
You will be performing in depth research regarding new European legislation and jurisprudence governing these specific banking products.
These are the qualification we are looking for in an intern:
- Law student at university (3rd or 4th year)
- Focus on European law and legislation, IT and the financial sector
- Capable of understanding complex legal documents AND translating it to the specific context of Triodos Bank
- Want to connect and contribute to the mission of Triodos Bank
- Available for at least 2 months
- Excellent Communication skills (written and verbal)
