The newly designed De Onlanden nature reserve is managed by Hoogeveld BV, a collaboration between suckler cow farmers Sytze and Alma van der Goot and Natuurmonumenten.

With the use of some 300 hectares of natural land and maintenance and nature work on another 400 hectares, 't Hoogeveld is a large-scale viewing farm. They do the mowing, tedding and raking themselves, whereas the contractor comes with the baler. The farm has been working according to a green specification for 12 years, they take care of all maintenance and work in the 1500 ha area: they keep track of ditch maintenance, grids and paths. A central area of 750 hectares has recently been set up as a water storage facility with a 23 km quay.
