Founded in 1972 by Margaret Blackwood, the organisation has developed on a national scale providing housing and driving innovation in independent living. Based out of three hubs (Glasgow, Aberdeen and Stirling) and with over 1,600 homes providing housing and care for residents, they continue to support people with varying needs, allowing them to live freely within their local community. Support is tailored to the individual, and Blackwood specialises in supporting those with MS, dementia and Huntington's. Finance from Triodos Bank will be used to fund housing improvements and new sheltered housing accommodation.
