The world’s first climate impact rating for funds, Climetrics, which launched on July 6 2017, has rated Triodos Sustainable Equity Fund and Triodos Sustainable Pioneer Fund as leading investment funds for climate-responsible investing with a top rating.

Green leaves

The rating – symbolised by green leaves issued on a scale of one to five – will enable investors to gauge and compare the climate impact of investments in funds and potentially encourage growth in climate-responsible fund products. Triodos Sustainable Equity Fund was rated with five green leaves and Triodos Sustainable Pioneer Fund with four leaves.

Of the more than 2,500 funds rated by Climetrics - representing close to EUR 2 trillion - 221 funds were recognized as 5-leaf by the new rating, meaning Triodos Sustainable Equity Fund is among the top 8% ranked funds for sale in Europe for low-carbon investment.

Erik Breen, Head of SRI at Triodos Investment Management: “We are very pleased with the recognition of Triodos Sustainable Equity Fund and Triodos Sustainable Pioneer Fund’s climate responsible character. As sustainable investment funds, planet awareness, including climate protection, is one of the funds’ main focus areas, besides topics such as human rights, human dignity and governance. In general, the equity fund market could be a significant lever for mitigating climate change. This new rating system will allow investors to compare funds’ climate-related performance and we will be following the implementation and development of this rating for funds with much interest.”

Climetrics is backed by international climate specialists: CDP, the global not-for-profit holding the most comprehensive set of corporate environmental data, and ISS-Ethix Climate Solutions, part of the responsible investment arm of Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. Climetrics was initiated and funded by Climate-KIC, the European Union's main climate innovation initiative.
