Microfinance (Social)

There is great demand for financial services at the lower end of the market, yet the microfinance sector in Angola is still underdeveloped. Microfinance institution KixiCredito wants to make access to basic financial services easier. The loan provided by Triodos Sustainable Finance Foundation will enable KixiCredito to realise this ambition and expand its role as a market leader in the Angolan microfinance market. The institution is also looking into the possibilities for developing and implementing a solar lending product. KixiCredito plans to run a pilot for this loan product in Angola's capital city Luanda.

KEY INDICATORS as of 31 December 2015:

- number of loan clients: 22,950
- percentage female clients: 55%
- percentage rural clients: 15%
- average loan amount: EUR 587
- number of savings clients: 22,950

Whoever you are, and wherever you live in the world, you are likely to want permanent access to financial services. Microfinance banks play a crucial role providing access to finance to an increasing number of people living on low-incomes. We finance microfinance institutions because they help to build inclusive financial sectors, where the majority of people have access to financial services, leading to a sustainable basis for balanced social and economic development.
