Sustainable trade (Social)
Sol & Cafė is a cooperative of around 1,000 coffee producers farming in the North of Peru (Jaen). Since 2011, the cooperative conducts its own export operations, focusing on the premium coffee market and thus aiming to secure maximum income for its members.
In order to assure a constant level of quality, Sol & Cafė has implemented a maintenance program; as part of this program farmers receive technical assistance on cutting, replanting and sustainable undergrowth techniques. On top of that, the cooperative provides organic fertilizer as credit to the members who renovate their plantations.
Most of the production area is certified organic. The Sol & Cafė agro-team takes care of certification and provides technical assistance.
