Solar plant Puurs
Sustainable energy (Environment)
Solar plant Puurs operates roof-top solar panels with a total capacity of 2.4 MW, with which it provides green energy to 600 households. The plant, located in the small Flanders town of Puurs, is owned by our Belgian partner Orka NV, which also developed and owns another TREF investment: Solar plant VRD. Triodos Renewables Europe Fund has facilitated the construction of solar plant Puurs through a subordinated loan.
Energy is a necessity in modern life but the current dependence on fossil fuels to provide it has a high environmental and social impact. We believe that a fundamental transition is needed away from a carbon based economy to a renewable one. By lending and investing in this sector we try to stimulate this transition, with our main focus on financing solar, wind and hydro energy.
