  • Tailored to the needs of agricultural exporters in Africa, Latin America and Asia
  • Dedicated team, widely experienced in organic and fair trade industries
  • No restriction on product type, from coffee and cotton, to fruit and nuts
  • Extensive network of fair trade and organic buyers and producers worldwide
  • Fast application handling, fair and transparent conditions

Our finance

The purpose of our trade finance facility is to assist agricultural exporters to pre-finance their export contracts with foreign buyers - providing them with the cash they need to bridge the (pre)harvest and shipment season. Export contracts form the basis of each loan.

Loan period

The start of the loan period normally coincides with the start of the harvesting season and may continue until the last shipment of the exported products. Usually the loan period is between 6 and 12 months.

Amount

We lend between EUR 200,000 and EUR 1,250,000 (or the equivalent in US dollars), and up to 60% of the value of the export contract(s).

Repayment and monitoring

The repayment process is arranged through an agreement between your company, the buyer and Triodos Sustainable Trade Fund:

  • All buyer payments for the contract pre-financed by us, are made to a Triodos account.
  • We normally withhold 60% of each payment and pay through the balance to your account in your bank.
  • Your monthly monitoring reports enable us to follow up on the transaction and the repayment of the loan

Security

We usually do not require collateral beyond the receivables related to the export contracts.
