Sustainable trade (Social)
bioRe Tanzania Ltd is a sourcing company for certified organic cotton. It sources directly from around 1,700 farmers in the north of Tanzania and contracts a ginnery for the ginning of the seed cotton. bioRe sells its cotton to Remei, a Swiss supplier of certified organic garments who has co-developed highly successful organic brands with its key buyers, such as supermarket chain CO-OP Switzerland. With the trade finance provided by Triodos Sustainable Trade Fund bioRe Tanzania can pay the farmers directly upon delivery of their cotton.

Smallholder farmers in developing countries do not necessarily reap the rewards of a complex international trade system. So, by financing fair trade enterprises we aim to make sure that individuals and their families are paid fairly for their products.
