Kuyichi

Kuyichi

Kuyichi was launched in 2001 as a fashion brand and has ever since been designing and producing “honest” jeans and other cotton based garments, using ‘fair trade’ principles. Kuyichi produces products in a socially responsible manner, with respect for the social framework, environmental issues and economic context.

Kuyichi creates style through fashion. Their aim is to carry a positive attitude in the world. This principle is reflected in their logo, or sign. The circular shape symbolizes the world and the plus sign indicates positivity, adding and giving. The name Kuyichi is derived from the Peruvian god of the rainbow. There is a legend that the rainbow god of the Taquile Indians became angry with the people and took all colors away from life. After introducing and perfecting the art of weaving beautiful blankets, the Indians were able to bring the colors of the rainbow to the world.

Kuyichi’s modern vision in fashion is integrated, but not compromised by their aim to stimulate sustainable economies in third world countries, such as Peru. Kuyichi rises to the challenge of developing organic materials and ecological processes with contemporary and cutting edge styling. Kuyichi’s vision is to sale fair trade retail products in casual clothing, with high quality fashion standards.
