Ecuador - Banco Solidario

Banco Solidario in Ecuador distinguishes itself by the many types of finance it offers to low-income groups. The bank’s philosophy is to provide people who usually don’t have access to conventional bank with the same financial services as the higher income groups. The bank has 875 employees and 20 branch offices in the Andes and the harbour city Guyaquil. In 2005 Triodos Fair Share Fund provided two loans to Banco Solidario, of which one in syndicate with Triodos-Doen and Hivos-Triodos Fund.
