Moldova - Microfinance Organisation MicroInvest
Moldova is one of the poorest countries in Europe, with little or no perspective on improvement on the short term. 80% of the population lives below poverty level and increasingly depend on income from the informal sector. The vast rural population has made it difficult in the past for microfinance organizations to access this market segment, but MicroInvest has included rural savings and credit cooperations in its client base. In order to become fully sustainable, the organisation will have to diversify its portfolio composition and increase productivity. To reach a sustainable level, additional funding will be needed now and in the years to come. The loan provided by Triodos-Doen supports MicroInvest in this rather crucial stage of development.
