Russia - KMB Bank

In the last quarter of 2005, Stichting Triodos-Doen has sold it shareholding in the Russian KMB Bank to Banca Intesa, the largest Financial Institution in Italy. Triodos-Doen has been a shareholder since the bank was founded in 1998, together with the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development), DEG (Deutsche Entwicklungs- und Investitions Gesellschaft) and SEDF (Soros Economic Development Fund) Triodos-Doen owned 8.09% of the shares. Also DEG (18.36%) and SEDC (36.78%) have sold their shares to Banca Intesa. EBRD reduced its shareholding with 11.78% to 25% plus one share. The Russian Bank will be known as Intesa KMB. The founding shareholders agreed with Banca Intesa that the mission of KMB Bank, to finance the micro-, small- and medium size businesses in Russia would not dilute. The majority shareholding by Banca Intesa will enable KMB to grow successfully in the still under-served banking market of Russia. Both expertise and financial strength of Banca Intesa will be a strong benefit for KMB.
Triodos-Doen still has a subordinated loan of EUR 1 million outstanding with KMB Bank.
