In the complex and, in many respects, competitive market in South Africa, Small Enterprise Foundation (SEF), successfully concentrates on the provision of loans to women of the lowest income groups. The organisation is in particular active in rural areas. For many years, Hivos Triodos Fund has financed a part of SEF's loan portfolio. In 2006, Hivos-Triodos Fund provided a loan in sydicate with Triodos-Doen, thereby contributing to the foundation’s future growth.
