AfriCap is an investment fund specialised in participations in microfinance institutions in AFrica. After five years, AfriCap has come to the end of its investment period in which it built up a portfolio with equity and related participations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Madagascar, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Senegal and Egypt. In early 2007, the last participations will be entered into before the formal period of sales commences. Already in 2006, the first two (part) sales were successfully completed. AfriCap is making preparations for the establishment of AfriCap II to offer the possibility of further expansion of the portfolio. A senior Triodos Bank co-worker represents Hivos-Triodos Fund, Cordaid and the DOEN Foundation on the Board of Directors.
